Cardi B Leads MTV Music Video Awards Nominations

The nominees are in for the 2018 MTV Music Video Awards. New mom Cardi B is leading the pack with a total of 10 noms. She’ll be competing in several major categories – including video, song, and artist of the year.

Cardi may be in the lead, but something tells us it will be a tight race. She’ll have to go head to head with some of the artist with the most supportive fans in the world. Beyoncé and Jay-Z will be her strongest competition since they came in second with a total of eight nominations.

The most impressive part is the fact that a single video was responsible for their success. Needless to say, we’re talking about APES**T – the first single from their joint album Everything Is Love. The epic music video the Carters released in June broke the internet, but does it mean they’re destined to score the big victory at MTV Music Video Awards?

Childish Gambino and Drake came in third with seven noms each. Their singles, This Is America and God’s Plan respectively, also had a huge impact and started an important conversation. We wouldn’t be surprised if the voters decided to reward their courage to explore the sensitive subject matter, but we’ll have to wait until August 20 to find out for sure.

Here’s the full list of 2018 MTV music video awards nominations.
