No, it is not a mistake. Although MTV’s highly anticipated reality show Jersey Shore Family Vacation is yet to air, the network already renewed it for a second season. According to Deadline, the renewal comes after MTV experienced a rating boost thanks to its similar reality series like Floribama Shore.
Jersey Shore Family Vacation serves as a Jersey Shore revival and will see original Jersey Shore housemates Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino reuniting in Miami. They won’t be alone, however, since they will bring their families alongside. Snooki’s husband Jionni LaValle won’t appear in the show because he doesn’t want to be on TV and “simply do not like it” as he said to his Instagram followers. One original member will also be missing since Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola decided not to appear and move away from the television.
Alongside the announcement about the second season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, MTV also revealed that four episodes of Road to Vacation special will be aired, containing new interviews with the cast while also reminding us on the show’s most iconic moments. The first episode of Road to Vacation will air on March 15 and will continue in the next three weeks until Jersey Shore Family Vacation premieres on April 5.
Jersey Shore originally premiered in 2009 and was an immediate success for MTV. Six seasons aired through 2012, featuring the cast living in different locations including New Jersey, South Beach and even going to Italy. Two spin-off shows were produced featuring some members of the cast, Snooki & JWoww and The Pauly D Project.
