Netflix does not typically reveal its viewership numbers, but the streaming service has made an exception.

One of its original films, Murder Mystery, has shattered the record for an opening weekend on the streaming platform.

The film stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston as a married couple who find themselves involved in a murder investigation on a yacht.

The comedy was reportedly watched by 31 million accounts between June 14th and June 16th. Netflix counts a “view” as an account having watched at least 70% of the film’s runtime, including the credits.

The figure means the movie boasts the biggest opening weekend in Netflix history.

In addition, it is likely that Murder Mystery will surpass Sandra Bullock’s film Bird Box which holds the record for the most views in a week.

At least this one you can watch with your eyes open!
