It’s been less than two weeks since My Life with the Walter Boys premiered on Netflix, but the second chapter of this story is already being written. Netflix renewed the hit teen drama series for its second season.

Based on Ali Novak’s novel which started its life on Wattpad, My Life with the Walter Boys centers on recently orphaned Jackie Howard, who lost her family in a tragic accident. She must leave her privileged life in New York behind and move to rural Colorado, where the family of her mother’s best friend welcomes her with open arms.

Nikki Rodriguez plays Jackie Howard, while the show’s supporting cast includes Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis, Connor Stanhope, Zoë Soul, Jaylan Evans, Sarah Rafferty, and Marc Blucas.

Showrunner Melanie Halsall discussed the show’s renewal with Deadline and revealed that the story will significantly deviate from the source material as it continues its life on Netflix.

“When you’re making a television series that you want to be returning, you have to make changes from a novel. I wanted to surprise the audience. I wanted to give the audience something a little bit different than they were expecting from the book,” said Halsall.
