Nancy Drew is getting a spinoff series titled Tom Swift.

The character first appeared in the CW’s Nancy Drew and was played by Tian Richards. He appeared in the Season 2 episode “The Celestial Visitor”, which served as a backdoor pilot to the Tom Swift standalone series.

The show follows the adventures of a Black, gay, billionaire inventor who’s in a world of sci-fi conspiracy and unexplained phenomena after his father shockingly disappears. Tom’s on a mission to discover the truth while leaving behind his normal life and trying to stay ahead of the Illuminati-scale group that wants to stop him.

The show was announced in October 2020 and the character first appeared in novels in 1910. Simon and Schuster published a Tom Swift series in 2019.

The series was co-created and executive produced by Melinda Hsu Taylor, Noga Landau, and Cameron Johnson. Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Lis Rowinski also serve as executive producers.

Tom Swift will debut during the 2021-2022 season, but no official premiere date has been announced.
