One prequel ordered, one canceled.

While HBO announced a straight-to-series order for a Game of Thrones prequel called House of the Dragon, sources confirm to Variety that the GoT prequel pilot starring Naomi Watts is not going to series.

The pilot, which also starred Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Toby Regbo, Miranda Richardson, Marquis Rodriquez, John Simm, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx, was set to take place thousands of years prior to the events of the original series.

The prequel was co-created by Jane Goldman and author George R.R. Martin. The two were also set to executive produce along with SJ Clarkson, Daniel Zelman, James Farrell, Jim Danger Gray, and Vince Gerardis. Clarkson also directed the pilot.
