Season 3 of Narcos: Mexico is just around the corner, and you should savor every episode because we won’t get any new ones. Netflix recently announced their decision to bring this series to a close with the final third season.
Season 3 is set to premiere on November 5th, and it will follow see a new generation of Mexican kingpins that emerged during the 90s, as the globalization of the drug business ignited. It will take place after Félix Gallardo’s (Diego Luna) arrest, as the war breaks out after his empire crumbles.
When Netflix renewed Narcos: Mexico for its third season last year, its executive producer and past showrunner Eric Newman thanked the streamer and said he’s immensely proud of what this spectacular team has achieved with the shows from the Narcos series.
“When we began this endeavor—making a show in two languages, in a country that had never seen this kind of production— it seemed insane. But Netflix saw its potential then and their faith in us never wavered,” Newman told the Hollywood Reporter.
Narcos: Mexico was preceded by the original series Narcos, set in Colombia, which aired on Netflix between 2015 and 2017. At this point, it’s unclear if the franchise will continue with another spin-off series.
