First Look of Natalie Portman as Glittery Pop Diva in “Vox Lux”

Natalie Portman won an Oscar for playing a ballerina on the verge of a mental breakdown, and she’ll try to replicate her success by playing… A pop diva on the verge of a mental breakdown. The actress will explore her dark side in the upcoming movie Vox Lux, a tale of an international star buckling under the pressure of fame.

The upcoming musical drama follows Celeste, a young woman who survived a traumatic shooting before becoming a worldwide sensation. Celeste has to confront her legacy and unusual set of circumstances that transformed her into a star.

The upcoming movie also stars Jude Law, Stacy Martin, and Jennifer Ehle. Raffey Cassidy, who rose to prominence with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, will portray the younger version of Portman’s character.

Vox Lux was written and directed by Brady Corbet. He proved his filmmaking talent with underrated, but critically acclaimed The Childhood of a Leader, starring Robert Pattinson.

Vox Lux will premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival, but its theatrical release date remains a mystery. This promising project is still looking for a U.S. distributor, but things are looking up for it. In addition to having an amazing cast, Vox Lux will also feature original songs, written by none other than Sia!
