National Board of Review Honors “The Irishman” With Best Film Award

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in "The Irishman"

It’s that time of the year when every major film organization is sharing awards to the best cinematic achievements of the year, and the National Board of Review is the next one in line. Their award for the best film of the year went to Martin Scorsese’s latest project The Irishman.

This wasn’t the only major award this crime drama picked up at this year’s ceremony. Steven Zaillian won the award for the best-adapted screenplay, while stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino picked up the NBR Icon Award alongside Scorsese.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also did pretty great at this ceremony, and received awards for best director (Quentin Tarantino) and best-supporting actor (Brad Pitt). Uncut Gems also picked up two awards, in the best actor (Adam Sandler) and best original screenplay (Safdie Brothers and Ronald Bronstein) categories.

The National Board of Review also unveiled the list of their top 10 films of the year, which included the likes of Marriage Story, Ford v Ferrari, and Knives Out.
