Found and The Irrational are among the most popular new shows to premiere on NBC this year, and the network is betting big on both. The first-year drama series have both been renewed for the second season after premiering on NBC this fall.
Found stars Shanola Hampton as a PR specialist working with her team to find missing people overlooked by the system, after being a victim of kidnapping herself. The Irrational centers on world-renowned professor of behavioral science Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin), who uses his special skills to help the authorities solve high-stakes cases.
According to Deadline, both shows had episodes filmed prior to the start of the broadcast season and this contributed to their renewal following the end of the dual strikes.
Lisa Katz, the president of scripted content for NBCUniversal Entertainment, described these shows as a testament to the incredibly passionate work of their showrunners Nkechi Okoro Carroll and Arika Lisanne Mittma, and praised them for flawlessly executing their visions.
“A huge thank you to the talented cast, producers, and crews for their tireless commitment and dedication, which has clearly paid off with audiences making these series must-see television on both NBC and the next day on Peacock,” said Katz in a statement.
