NBC gave us one of its most talked-about freshman sitcoms of 2021 with Mr. Mayor, and more hilarious episodes are on the way. This workplace comedy starring Ted Danson has just been renewed for its second season.

Mr. Mayor centers on a retired businessman, Neil Bremer, who runs for mayor of Los Angeles to prove a point. Once he manages to come out victorious, Bremer is forced to figure out what he stands for and how to gain the respect of his staff, family, and biggest critics.

Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal entertainment and streaming, said that the network is looking forward to more hilarity in the upcoming second season and thanked the creative masterminds who brought this show to life.

“Having Ted Danson and Holly Hunter leading this brilliant ensemble is a dream. A huge thank-you to Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and our talented cast and crew for an incredible first season,” said Katz in a statement.

In addition to Danson and Hunter, Mr. Mayor also stars Bobby Moynihan, Vella Lovell, Mike Cabellon, and Kyla Kenedy. The first season of the show premiered on NBC on January 7th, and it’s still unclear how long we’ll have to wait for the second.
