NBC Renews “Superstore” for Season 5

America Ferrera in "Superstore"

In a time when many of our favorite sitcoms are going off the air, Superstore is staying open for another season. NBC bosses just announced they’re bringing back this workplace comedy for Season 5.

Despite the fact it had hard time competing with some of the other shows from rival networks, Superstore proved to be quite a hit for NBC. It pulled impressive ratings, and became their second-best digital performer, right after Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Superstore follows a group of employees working at a fictional big-box store Cloud 9. The impressive ensemble cast is led by Golden Globe-winner America Ferrera, who became a household name thanks to the titular role in hit series Ugly Betty.

Justin Spitzer, known as one of the writers and producers of The Office, was in charge of creating this workplace comedy. Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, are putting their full trust in him because he spent previous four seasons making us laugh, while speaking to the larger issues of the day.
