Hit & Run has been issued a fatal blow.

Netflix has confirmed that it will not be renewing the series from Fauda creator Lior Raz which debuted on the streaming service in August.

The action thriller followed Raz in the role of Segev Azulai whose American wife is killed during a hit and run in Tel Aviv. While trying to find the perpetrators responsible, Segev travels to New York where he discovers that his late wife was not all she claimed to be.

Although the series received favorable reviews from critics and the audience, the expense of being filmed in both Israel and New York seems to have swayed Netflix in the direction of cancellation. The COVID-19 pandemic also resulted in the 9-episode season taking three years to produce.

The series’ showrunners had originally envisioned Hit & Run continuing for two or three seasons—particularly in light of the massive cliffhanger on which season one ended.
