Netflix Cancels “Spinning Out” After One Season

Kaya Scodelario in "Spinning Out"

Netflix’s Spinning Out fails to stick the landing.

Multiple outlets confirm that the competitive figure skating drama, which debuted on the streamer on January 1, has been canceled after one season only.

News of the cancelation comes just over a month after the series’ premiere, consistent with Netflix’s evaluation of a month worth of viewership data before making renewal decisions.

The series starred Kaya Scodelario as Kat Baker, a super talented elite ice-skater who takes a disastrous fall. But just before she hands her skated, Kat is presented with a second chance to compete on the ice as a pair skater opposite Evan Roderick’s bad boy Justin.

January Jones, Willow Shields, Amanda Zhou, Will Kemp, Svetlana Efremova, Mitchell Edwards, Sarah Wright Olsen, David James Elliott, Johnny Weir, Kaitlyn Leeb, and Jonathan Van Ness also starred in the series.

Spinning Out received mostly positive reviews from critics, holding a 63% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes per Variety.
