Netflix gave us two beloved teen series with The Society and I Am Not Okay with This, but they won’t be getting another season. Both shows have been canceled by the streaming giant due to coronavirus-related circumstances.
Netflix thanked the writers, cast, and crew for working tirelessly to bring these two shows to life, and also expressed gratitude to the passionate fans who tuned in to watch them.
“We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay with This. We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators,” said Netflix in a statement.
The Society premiered in 2019 and centered on a group of teens forging their own community after the rest of the population of their town mysteriously disappeared. It starred Kathryn Newton, Gideon Adlon, Sean Berdy, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
I Am Not Okay with This premiered in February, and its cast included Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, and Sofia Bryant. It’s a coming-of-age tale of a teenage girl who’s trying to come to terms with her mysterious superpowers.
