Several Oscar hopefuls are coming to Netflix this fall, including the Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro. The streaming giant just dropped the first full trailer for this highly anticipated film, led by the Oscar-nominated duo Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan.

Netflix’s official synopsis describes this film as “the towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between cultural icon Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein.”

Cooper directed the film and co-wrote it with Josh Singer, in addition to playing the lead role alongside Mulligan. Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor also star.

The first few seconds of the trailer capture the faithful first meeting between Bernstein and Montealegre, and see the famous composer reflecting on one of the most important things she taught him about music: “If summer doesn’t sing in you then nothing sings in you. And if nothing sings in you, then you can’t make music.”

Maestro had the world premiere at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, as one of the films in the running for the Golden Lion. It will be released in selected theatres on November 22, before premiering on Netflix on December 20.
