Netflix & Forest Whitaker Team for “Hello, Universe”

Netflix and Forest Whitaker have teamed up to adapt the best-selling novel to the screen. 

The news was announced by the streaming giant Wednesday. 

The film will be adapted from Erin Entrada Kelly’s novel Hello, Universe. Penning the screenplay is Michael Golamco will adapt the book. Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi of Significant Productions will produce the feature. 

The live-action family movie will center on a bully’s antics landing a timid boy in the bottom of a well, leading to his self-proclaimed psychic friend and unknowing crush teaming up to find him. The story is told from four intertwining points of view — two boys and two girls. 

According to Variety Whitaker’s producing credits include Fruitvale Station and Roxanne Roxanne.
