Fasten your seatbelts, Netflix fans.

The streaming service has announced that a Fast & Furious animated series will be heading to its screens.

“We are thrilled to take our fantastic partnership with DreamWorks Animation to the next level with new opportunities from the vast library of Universal Pictures,” said Vice President of Kids and Family at Netflix, Melissa Cobb. “The Fast & Furious franchise is a global phenomenon beloved by audiences of all ages, and we can’t wait to get started on the new animated series that will capture the action, heart, humour and global appeal of the feature films.”

The series will be executively produced by Vin Diesel who has starred in all 8 of the franchise’s live action films.

The animated series is set to focus on teenager, Tony Toretto, who follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom (Vin Diesel’s character) when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organisation bent on world domination.
