Stranger Things will come to an end with its upcoming fifth season, but that won’t be the last we see of this franchise. Netflix is currently plotting an untitled animated series that will take us back to the Upside Down after the original show is over.
Stranger Things became one of Netflix’s signature series since its premiere in 2016. It centers on residents of the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, who are under constant threat of paranormal activities from an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down.
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer said they’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons, and it’s absolutely thrilling to see their dream come true.
“We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues,” the duo said in a statement.
The Duffer Brothers will produce the series via Upside Down Pictures, alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps, and Eric Robles of Flying Bark Productions. They’re plotting several more projects in the Stranger Things universe, including a stage play and a live-action spinoff.
