Bridgerton had one of the best Netflix launches in recent memory, and it was just a matter of time before it was renewed for another season. The moment that everyone was waiting for is finally here, and this hit period drama has been renewed for its second season.

The renewal has been announced in the form of a letter written by the series narrator Lady Whistledown, which confirmed that the upcoming season will focus on Anthony Bridgerton as he tries to dominate the social season.

“The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion,” reads Lady Whistledown’s letter.

Season 2 will start filming this spring in the UK, and it will draw inspiration from Julia Quinn’s book series that focuses on the loves and lives of the members of the Bridgerton family, as they try to navigate the competitive world of the Regency era.

Bridgerton is the first series that Shonda Rhimes produced for Netflix, and it reportedly reached 63 million households within 28 days of its debut.
