The Spanish drama Elite has been renewed for a fourth season by Netflix.

Written by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, the series has been picked up for Season 4 just two months after Season 3 launched on the streaming service.

Elite is one of Netflix’s best performing Spanish originals and it takes place at Las Encinas, an exclusive high school in the country, whose students are wealthy, except for three working-class kids who have been admitted after their tin pit school collapses. The class and cultural differences between these students cause confrontation, one of which ends in murder.

The announcement was made by the cast from their homes. “I wanted to tell you that we have got the scripts of season 4 and they look so good,” Miguel Bernardeau said in the video. “You better be prepared, because it’s intense,” Arón Piper added.

Many of the cast members won’t be returning for the fourth season including Mina El Hammani, Danna Paola, Ester Expósito, Álvaro Rico, and Jorge López. Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Bernardeau, Arón Piper, Omar Ayuso, Claudia Salas, and Georgina Amorós will be reprising their roles in the fourth season.

Netflix has yet to reveal a release date, but it’s expected to be put on hold due to the coronavirus.
