It’s only been two weeks since One Piece premiered on Netflix, and its future is looking bright! The acclaimed live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series of the same name has officially been renewed for its second season.

Eiichiro Oda confirmed the show’s renewal and said it felt amazing to see the fans welcome this series with open arms after working with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios for a long time to bring it to life.

“It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it. Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news… The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!” he wrote on social media.

While announcing the show’s renewal, Oda also took a moment to ask fans for patience, explaining it will “still take a while” for Season 2 scripts to come together in the face of the ongoing WGA strike.

One Piece centers on a young pirate Monkey D. Luffy, who embarks on an epic voyage for ancient treasure known as “One Piece” with his ragtag crew Straw Hat Pirates. The series reached number one in 84 countries following its release, breaking the Netflix debut records previously held by Stranger Things and Wednesday.
