Elite is already Netflix’s longest-running Spanish scripted series, and its reign will continue for another season. The streaming giant announced the renewal of this coming-of-age series for its eighth season, which will feature both new and familiar faces.

Created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca, Elite is set within the walls of a fictional elite high school Las Encinas. It follows complicated relationships between working-class students and their affluent peers after they find themselves at the prestigious school on scholarship.

The show’s ensemble cast includes Ander Puig, Carmen Arrufat, Álvaro de Juana, Ana Bokesa, Álex Pastrana, André Lamoglia, Valentina Zenere, Carla Díaz, Martina Cariddi, Adam Nourou and Manu Ríos. Ane Rot (Killer Book Club) and Nuno Gallego (UPA Next) are expected to join them in Season 8, along with Elite veteran Mina el Hammani, who starred in the first three seasons of the show as Nadia Shanaa.

The renewal of Elite is a smart business move on Netflix’s side, even though we’re yet to see Season 7, which is set to premiere on October 20. Unlike many other shows on Netflix, this one isn’t impacted by the ongoing WGA and SGA strikes in Hollywood because it’s mainly filmed in Madrid, Spain.
