Netflix gave us one of its most intriguing shows in recent years with You, but all good things must come to an end. The streaming giant renewed the crime drama for its fifth season, but this will also mark the last chapter of Joe Goldberg’s killing spree.

Over the course of the past four seasons, we’ve seen Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg commit a series of brutal murders on his path to find “true love”. By the end of Season 4, he managed to get away with it all, eventually moving back to New York and starting a new life with his millionaire girlfriend Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie).

Season 4 will mark the changing of the guard behind the camera, as Sera Gamble steps down as the showrunner. She’ll remain the series’ executive producer, as executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo step up to take her spot as co-showrunners.

Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series, reflected on the show’s enormous success over the course of the past four seasons and confirmed its ending in an official statement.

You became an instant sensation on Netflix with a resounding cultural impact that has grown season over season. We’re excited – and a bit terrified – to see how it all ends for Joe Goldberg, but one thing is for sure: You are in for an unforgettable ending,” said Friedlander.
