Krysten Ritter at the "Jessica Jones."

The first season of Netflix’ superhero TV show Jessica Jones was well received by the fans, so the show’s second season has been highly anticipated since. After premier in November 2015, you would think that the streaming service would hurry and make some more episodes. Well, Netflix took its time and just announced that Jessica Jones is returning with season two on March 8, 2018. All 13 episodes will be one hour long and immediately available for all fans to binge watch. Netflix also revealed a trailer for the second season. You can check it out below.

“Jessica is in a pretty dark headspace when we meet her at the top of season 2.” said Krysten Ritter, who plays the lead in the show. “What we’ve done again is kept the story very personal. If season 1 was in her head and in her mind, then this season will be more in her heart. It’s still a psychological thriller, but it’s more of an emotional thriller this time.”

Jessica Jones was in development since 2010, when the show’s creator Melissa Rosenberg pitched the idea to ABC. After ABC passed on the opportunity to make the show, Netflix opted in to make four series based on Marvel’s characters, including Jessica Jones. The show has since received significant praise from both the viewers and critics, with some going as far as claiming that it might be the “Marvel’s strongest TV franchise to date.”

One of the reasons for which we had to wait this long to get the second season of the show is Jessica Jones’ inclusion in The Defenders, mini-series featuring Marvel’s Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage as well. The series featured 8 episodes and premiered on August 18, 2017.
