After 50 years, cult sci-fi series Lost in Space is coming back thanks to Netflix. The streaming service giant announced the Lost in Space reboot back in 2015 and now decided to reveal the trailer for the series, as well as other details including the synopsis and the release date.

Lost in Space will premiere on April 13, 2018 on Netflix and the first season will have 10 episodes. You can check out the teaser trailer and synopsis below.

“Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.”

The original series premiered in 1965 and ran until 1968 when CBS decided to cancel it due to “declining ratings and escalating costs.” In 2014, Legendary Television hired screenwriting duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) to write the reboot of the series, which eventually found its place on Netflix.
