Netflix has several pretty promising movies coming our way this fall, and Leave the World Behind definitely deserves a spot on your watch list. The streaming giant finally shared the first full trailer for this psychological thriller, starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, and Ethan Hawke.
Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke lead the cast as a middle-aged couple whose family getaway to a luxurious rental home takes an ominous turn when a cyberattack knocks out their devices and two strangers (Mahershala Ali and Myha’la) appear at their door.
Leave the World Behind draws inspiration from Rumaan Alam’s book of the same name, and Mr. Robot’s Sam Esmail was in charge of adapting for the big screen. This film marks his second collaboration with Roberts, who previously starred in his show Homecoming.
The cast of this psychological thriller will also include Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans, and Kevin Bacon. Denzel Washington was cast when the film was first announced but was later replaced by Ali.
Leave the World Behind opened this year’s AFI Fest on October 25, and its theatrical release date is just around the corner. It will be shown in selected theatres from November 22 before it starts streaming on Netflix on December 8.
