Netflix’s “Cannon Busters” Sets Release Date

After a very long gestation, Netflix’s adaptation of the comic series Cannon Busters finally has a release date.

Netflix confirmed that the first full anime series adaptation of the comic series the same name will drop August 15.

The announcement was made Sunday by creator LeSean Thomas via the streaming service’s official Twitter account. The short clip’s caption reads: “It’s based on a comic book that I drew, so very excited to have the opportunity to adapt it into an animated feature. Cannon Busters drops August 15 on Netflix.”

Per Thomas, the plot follows “the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end, royal-class friendship droid who’s joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a powerful kingdom under siege.”
