New “Halloween” Trailer has been Released

Jamie Lee-Curtis in "Halloween"

The new, highly anticipated Halloween trailer has been released and it looks like a sequel we can definitely get behind.

The upcoming movie is directed by David Gordon Green and has been co-written by Danny McBride. Forty years on, Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role as Laurie Strode in the original 1978 movie.

The trailer starts by explicitly letting us know that the movie will be a continuation of the previous events of the original features. Our iconic masked villain, Michael Myers, is in a high-security prison where he has been since his arrest for the murder of three teenage girls on the night of Halloween 40 years ago. The trailer then cuts to Laurie Strode in her hometown, who admits that she prays every night that he will escape. Why? So that she can kill him.

Obviously, our villain does indeed escape and immediately begins making up for lost time. Reunited with his mask, we see a woman murdered in a garage and another being dragged across a public toilet. The trailer has all the ingredients for a decent horror. The characters are instantly compelling as we have already fallen with them, and the atmosphere is creepy as well as there being some genuinely jumpy moments. Fans will also be delighted to hear John Carpenter’s original theme music included.
