We’ve seen several beloved movies be adapted into TV shows in recent years and The Magnificent Seven is the next one in line. True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto is developing a series based on the iconic 60s western for Amazon Studios.

Pizzolatto joined forces with Amazon for an original Western drama about a former outlaw who assembles a gang to join him on an epic journey. Amazon eventually decided to morph this project into a remake of The Magnificent Seven because they wanted to wrap it around a story familiar to the wider audience.

According to Amazon’s official logline, this remake will be made in the tradition of the great epics from the golden age of Westerns and it’s been described as an expansive saga of adventure, action, and romance.

It will center on an outlaw and his cohorts, who must unite a disparate band of indelible fighters to defend a settlement of immigrant homesteaders in an open-range war against cattle barons in central Texas.

This won’t be even the first remake of The Magnificent Seven remake that Pizzolatto is attached to. He co-wrote the script for Antoine Fuqua’s 2016 remake alongside Richard Wenk, which starred Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
