Jesy Nelson recently dropped her first solo single since leaving Little Mix, but she’s not doing it all on her own. She was in pretty good company when recording her debut solo single “Boyz” because Nicki Minaj agreed to help her make this song even better.

Minaj previously collaborated with Little Mix on the 2018 song “Woman Like Me”, and she was the first person who popped into Nelson’s mind when she was writing her solo single.

“There was no one else I wanted on the song other than her, she was perfect for it. To me, she’s the queen of rap. We’re label buddies, which helped. Our label made it work. She loved it and wanted to jump on it … Loved working with her and I respect her as an artist,” Nelson told ET.

“Boyz” samples Diddy’s “Bad Boy 4 Life”, and he also agreed to make a cameo in the music video alongside Nelson and Minaj. This is the first single that the former Little Mix singer released on her own since announcing her departure from this girl group last year. She cited prolonged issues with her mental health as the reason for her exit.
