Nicki Minaj and Kim Petras have been teasing the music video for “Alone” for quite some time, and they finally gave us what we’ve been waiting for. The epic visual for their new collaboration is here, and it’s filled with nostalgic nods to the beloved disco classics.

“Alone” samples Alice Deejay’s Eurodance megahit “Better Off Alone”, and its music video is an ode to the disco classic that Petras grew up with. References to Eric Prydz’s “Call On Me”, Alex Gaudino’s “Destination Calabria”, and Fedde Le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit” are the central point of this music video.

Collaborating with Minaj was a dream come true for Petras, and she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that Minaj changed her life in so many ways by agreeing to record a verse for this song.

“We shot the music video together and she was like, ‘Ugh, when I heard the song, I just loved it,’ and that just made me so happy. I feel like I’ve learned so much. I feel like I love her more. When the camera’s on, it’s crazy. She just goes into a full superstar,” she told Zane Lowe.

“Alone” will be featured on Petras’s upcoming debut studio album, which still doesn’t have an official title or release date.
