Putting puppets in your music video sounds like a crazy move, but if there’s anyone who could make it work, it’s Nicki Minaj. The famous rapper just dropped the highly anticipated music video for her hit song Barbie Dreams, and it was definitely worth the wait.

The tongue-in-cheek visual starts with a puppet announcing the song, and things get even more insane from that point on. The video shows several classic Nicki Minaj moments, with singer dancing around in dozens of different outfits and neon hair colors, but that’s not the part the whole internet is buzzing about.

Barbie Dreams caught everyone’s attention because it features several muppet-like versions of the rappers Minaj mentioned in this song. 50 Cent, DJ Khaled and Lil Wayne come to mind. Putting the puppets in the video was the idea of director Hype Williams. They were considering adding a bunch of them but settled for a few since it was more than enough.

Barbie Dreams is one of the singles from Minaj’s fourth studio album Queen, which dropped on August 10. The song immediately stirred controversy, because people believed it’s a diss track she used to humiliate a bunch of famous rappers. Minaj dismissed these rumors and said it was all done in good fun since she didn’t name anyone who doesn’t know how to take a joke.
