After dropping one collaboration after another, Nicki Minaj finally gave us an amazing solo single “Super Freaky Girl” and she’s finally getting credit where credit is due. Her new track debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the rapper’s first solo single to reach the No. 1 spot.

“Super Freaky Girl” was released on August 12 as Minaj’s first solo single in three years. With 21.1 million streams, 4.6 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 89,000 downloads sold in its first week on the chart, it easily reached No. 1.

To make the whole thing even more impressive, “Super Freaky Girl” is Minaj’s first solo single and third overall to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She previously soared to the top with the remix of Doja Cat’s “Say So” and 6ix9ine collab “Trollz”, both released in 2020.

“Super Freaky Girl” is also the first solo hip-hop song by a female artist in over two decades to debut at No. 1. The last time this happened was in 1998 when Ms. Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100. This makes “Super Freak Girl” the first female solo hip-hop song to debut at number one in the 21st century.
