The first trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos starring Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem has been released.

The film follows Lucille Ball (Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Bardem) during a production week on the set of I Love Lucy from a Monday table read through an audience shot on Friday. Along the way, Ball and Arnaz face challenges that could end both their career and marriage.

The trailer gives a look at the iconic couple’s life with Kidman’s voiceover and the recreation of Ball’s grape storming scene.

The biopic won’t be a remake of I Love Lucy, rather it will tackle series themes including racial barriers that the couple faced with Desi being discriminated against for being Cuban and Lucille fighting to keep him on the show.

“The strange thing about Lucille Ball is that everyone thinks we’re remaking the ‘I Love Lucy’ show, and it’s so not that,” Kidman told Variety. “It’s about Lucy and Desi and their relationship and their marriage. It’s very deep, actually.”

The screenplay was written by Sorkin and Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producers. Jenna Block, David Bloomfield, Stuart Besser, Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr., and Lauren Lohman are executive producers.

The movie will be released in theaters on December 10 and on Amazon Prime Video on December 21. Watch the trailer below.
