If the cancellation of GLOW left you heartbroken, you’ll be happy to hear that its creators are working on their next project. The female-driven anthology series Roar is coming to Apple TV+ and its impressive cast includes Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, and Alison Brie.
This series is a brainchild of Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who also signed an overall deal with Apple TV+. It’s expected to feature eight half-hour episodes, told from a female point of view.
There’s a potential for more episodes in the future—this series is based on Cecelia Ahern’s book of short stories Roar: Thirty Women, Thirty Stories, originally published in 2018.
This isn’t the first adaptation of Ahern’s work. Her debut novel PS, I Love You was adapted into a hit romantic 2007 drama, starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. Romantic comedy Love, Rosie with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin was also based on one of her novels, and she also served as one of the co-creators of the sitcom Samantha Who? led by Christina Applegate.
