Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in negotiations to play Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in the Aaron Sorkin directed Being the Ricardos.

The film takes place during a production week on the set of I Love Lucy and will start with a Monday table read and end with an audience shoot on Friday. The film will show the challenges that the iconic Hollywood couple faced that could’ve ended their careers and marriage.

Sorkin wrote the screenplay and will direct for Amazon Studios and Escape Artists with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists producing. Escape Artists’ Jenna Block and David Bloomfield will serve as executive producers with Stuart Besser, Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr., and Lauren Lohman.

No production date has been set as the COVID-19 pandemic has shut down most filming projects in the U.S.

Kidman recently starred in The Undoing with High Grant. She was also in Ryan Murphy’s The Prom. Later this year, she’ll star in Nine Perfect Strangers and The Northman.

Bardem was most recently in The Roads Not Taken and he’s set to star in Dune and the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
