A series sequel to Night Court is in the works at NBC.

The sequel to the classic sitcom will have original series star John Larroquette returning to play Dan Fielding. The Big Bang Theory alum Melissa Rauch is executive producing the series.

The new show will be multi-cam and follow judge Abby Stone, the daughter of original series character Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court, following in her father’s footsteps. While doing so, she tries to bring order to the people including former night court prosecutor Fielding (Larroquette).

Night Court was created by Reinhold Weege and it ran on NBC from 1984-1992 for nine seasons and almost 200 episodes. During its run, the show won seven Emmys including four for Larroquette in the best supporting actor in a comedy category.

Night Court is one of the many reboots, followups, and revivals in development at NBC. The show joins a series version of the film Finding Forester and a series based on Fried Green Tomatoes.
