“The Night Manager” Will Come Back For Season 2

Tom Hiddleston in "The Night Manager"

The Night Manager was one of the most addictive TV shows of 2016, but it turns out we haven’t seen the last of it. The intriguing spy thriller was renewed for the second season, despite starting out as a mini-series. It’s unclear if Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie will comeback, but fans are counting on them.

The Night Manager is a TV adaptation of John le Carré’s famed novel of the same name. It follows the adventures of a luxury hotel’s night manager and former soldier Jonathan Pine, played by Hiddleston. He infiltrates the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Roper (Laurie) and tries to expose his criminal activities. Both actors received critical acclaim and won Golden Globes for giving two amazing performances.

The team of four writers will pen the second season of the hit show. British spy author Charles Cumming and up-and-comer Matthew Orton are already on board. If season two really happens, it will be the first sequel to Le Carré’s novel that’s not based on his writing. This author never allowed for that to happen, but The Night Manager writers want to honor his legacy by staying true to his vision and tone.

“All I am permitted to say is that le Carré has given his blessing to the project. Some characters that the audience know and love will be returning, others will not. The locations will be sumptuous, the plot as thrilling and as thematically complex as a le Carré story should be,” explained Cumming.
