Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was one of Game of Thrones’ biggest stars, but if you think he immediately watched its prequel series—think again. The Danish actor recently revealed that he’s still struggling to bring himself to watch House of the Dragon.

Game of Thrones fans were ecstatic when House of the Dragon welcomed them back to Westeros, but Coster-Waldau didn’t feel the same way. The experience of filming the original series is fresh in his memory, and he’s still not ready to dive back in.

“One day it came on and I saw the opening credits. And it was a little strange because it was the same music and the title sequence was kind of similar. I was like, ‘Ah, this is too soon. Too soon.’ I’ll wait. I’ll give it a couple of seasons, then I can binge-watch it,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Coster-Waldau isn’t the first GOT actor who avoided watching House of the Dragon. Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, expressed a similar opinion and compared it to going to a “school reunion that’s not your year”.

House of the Dragon premiered on HBO in August last year, and it chronicles the downfall of the House Targaryen, about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
