Emma Stone invented herself.

And she had the help of Girl Power.

When it came time for the Academy Award-winning actress to register herself with the Screen Actors Guild, she found that another actress was already registered with her birth name — Emily Stone.

The then-teenager decided to use the name, Riley, but eventually switched to Emma.

The Maniac actress has now revealed to Jimmy Fallon just what inspired that particular moniker.

“I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what, now I am,” she said on The Tonight Show. “It’s pretty messed up.”

“This just changed your Wikipedia page right now,” Jimmy replied.

“It wasn’t necessarily because of her, but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher and ask her on the first day to call me Emma? Yes, I did,” said the 30-year-old. “Was it because of Emma Lee Bunton of the Spice Girls? Yes, it was.”

Girl Power never dies!
