The NYPD Blue pilot is looking a lot more familiar nowadays.

Deadline conforms that Bill Brochtrup and Kim Delaney who starred in the original series will reprise their roles in ABC’s sequel pilot. Delaney will reprise her role as Detective Diane Russell, while Brochtrup will return in the role of Police Administrative Assistant John Irvin. They join the previously announced Alona Tal who will star as Detective Nicole Lazarus.

Like the original, the sequel will follow the police officers and detectives of 15th Precinct. The sequel will center on Theo, son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz character from the original series, who is working at the 15th Precinct and trying to earn his detective’s shield while investigating the murder of his father.

Original executive producers Matt Olmstead, Nick Wootton and Jesse Bochco are all on board for the sequel. Olmstead and Wootton penned the pilot’s script. Original co-creator Steven Bochco is set to direct.
