We are witnessing numerous TV shows making a comeback in the near future, so the news about The Office revival at NBC is not so surprising. According to multiple reports, the network is planning on to bring back the show for 2018-2019 fall TV season, with a mixture of old and new cast. Unfortunately, the character of Steve Carell, Michael Scott most likely won’t be included.

NBC’s president Bob Greenblatt earlier told Deadline that he often talks to The Office showrunner and writer Greg Daniels about revival.

“We often talk about The Office,” he said. “I’ve talked to Greg (Daniels) four times over the past few years. It’s always, ‘Maybe someday, but not now’. There is certainly an open invitation, but we don’t have anything happening right now. If he wants to do it, I would do it.”

Mindy Kaling, who worked as the writer for the show and portrayed the character of Kelly Kapoor, previously said that she would like to participate in the project if the opportunity occurs.

“I loved working on the show and I was there for eight years,” said Kaling on The Talk in September. “I think that if Greg Daniels, who did the American version of the show, he’s such a genius. And if he were to be in charge of it, I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t want to help out in some way or write, and I feel like probably the rest of the cast feels the same.”

The Office originally aired on NBC for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2013. An adaptation of the British series of the same name, the TV show depicted the everyday lives of office employees in Dunder Mifflin Paper Company and was filmed in a single-camera setup in order to simulate the look of an actual documentary. During its run, The Office won five Primetime Emmy Awards including one for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2006.
