Olivia Colman and Dev Patel have given us many acclaimed movies over the years, and they’re finally making one by each other’s side. This amazing duo will lead Wicker, a twisted romance about an unconventional couple whose relationship sparks outrage and chaos in their small community.

This film is based on the short story The Wicker Husband by Ursula Wills-Jones, and here’s what it has in store according to its official synopsis:

“On the outskirts of a village by the sea, lives a Fisherwoman (Colman); smelly, single, and perpetually ridiculed. One day, fed up with her stuffy, small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband to be made from wicker (Dev Patel). In an otherwise conservative town, this unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy, and chaos.”

Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson co-wrote the script, and they’ll also direct this film, while Topic Studios and Tango will be in charge of financing and producing it.

The Oscar-winner Colman starred in TV shows Great Expectations and Secret Invasion earlier this year, and we’ll soon get to see her in Wonka alongside Timothée Chalamet. As for Patel, he most recently appeared in several of Wes Anderson’s short films based on Roald Dahl’s short stories, including The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
