Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour is a gift that keeps on giving, and each new music video she drops is pure magic. That’s certainly the case with the sleeper hit “Traitor”, which now comes with a dreamy video that she surprisingly shared with the world.
The Olivia Bee-directed video has a major home video vibe, but it’s equally nostalgic as her previous clips for “Brutal” and “Good 4 U”. Rodrigo can be seen rocking numerous retro outfits while hanging out with her friends, taking a walk through an arcade, and taking a late-night swim.
Rodrigo burst into the music scene with her breakout hit “Drivers License”, and impressed us with her ability to write about heartbreak with so much authenticity at such a young age. “Traitor” follows a similar formula, and the Disney star explained she feels heartbreak more intensely precisely because she’s still a teenager.
“It’s interesting, heartbreaks when you’re 16 or 17 because you don’t yet have that perspective of knowing that life goes on and you’re gonna meet other people; that it wasn’t the only happy experience you’ll ever have,” Rodrigo told The Guardian.
“Traitor” serves as the fourth single from her chart-topping album Sour and it debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart before even being released as a single.
