It’s been two years since Olivia Rodrigo took the world by storm with her debut album Sour and its follow-up is just around the corner. The young singer celebrated the second anniversary of Sour by revealing that her next album is “so close to being done”.
Rodrigo celebrated the anniversary of her first album by sharing a series of behind-the-scenes photos on social media and revealed she’s been busy working on new music in the past few months.
“Sour turns 2 years old today. no words could ever describe how much this album means to me and how insanely grateful I feel for every blessing it has brought into my life. The new stuff is so so so so so close to being done I pinky promise,” said Rodrigo on Instagram.
This announcement doesn’t come as a shocker for the singer’s fans since she’s been teasing new music since January when she shared a snippet from the studio and said she’s “working on so many new songs”.
Sour was originally released on May 21, 2021, and it broke the global Spotify record for the biggest opening week for an album by a female artist, in addition to topping the Billboard 200 chart. It also made history as the first debut album to spawn two number-one debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”.
