A24 is plotting the adaptation of Jennifer Egan’s novels A Visit from the Goon Squad and The Candy House, and they found the perfect director for the job. Olivia Wilde will be in charge of bringing the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and its sequel to our small screens.

Goon Squad told 13 interrelated stories with a large set of characters, who are all somehow connected to a record company executive Bennie Salazar and his assistant Sasha. The sequel novel The Candy House came out last year and revisited some of the characters from the original novel.

Wilde made a major shift from acting to directing in recent years, and it all started with her critically acclaimed feature debut Booksmart. Its follow-up Don’t Worry Darling came out last year and it starred Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, but it wasn’t received just as warmly by the critics.

A24 is best known for its films, including the most recent best picture Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All At Once, but this won’t be their first foray into television. Their most recent series Beef is currently taking Netflix by storm, and the list of their TV credits also includes HBO’s Euphoria and Irma Vep, Hulu’s Ramy, and Showtime’s Ziwe.
