Olympian Johnny Weir has joined Netflix’s upcoming ice-skating drama Spinning Out and he will stop at nothing to win!

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that former Olympian Weir will star in the streaming service’s upcoming skating drama leads Kaya Scodelario and Evan Roderick. Other actors who have signed on to the series include Sarah Wright Olsen, Will Kemp, Kaitlyn Leeb, Amanda Zhou, and Mitchell Edwards.

Spinning Out centers on Kat Baker (Scodelario), an up-and-coming single skater. After a disastrous fall, she realizes she can continue her career if she enters the paired skating division. She partners with “a talented bad boy” named Justin (Roderick), however, their partnership “risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life,” according to the show’s official logline.

Weir will play Gabe, an ice skater who may seem like an easy-going guy, but underneath he’s a cutthroat competitor who’ll stop at nothing to beat Kat and Justin.

Spinning Out was created by Samantha Stratton, who will also serve as co-showrunner with Lara Olsen (90210).
