“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is Quentin Tarantino’s Biggest Opening Ever

The latest Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon a Timeā€¦ in Hollywood, has hit the screens this weekend and marks a new personal best for the director with projected earnings of 40.4 million dollars. The film was screened at 3,659 theaters in the U.S. and Canada.

The opening, which puts the movie on the second spot in this weekend’s box office list after The Lion King is considered a solid opening considering it is a summer release of an R-rated, adult-oriented movie. Tarantino’s previous biggest opening movie was Inglorious Basterds, which opened with 38.1 million dollars in 2009.

Once Upon a Timeā€¦ in Hollywood is the director’s 9th film and he said in the past that he will make one another film after its release. It is still not known which movie it will be. In the past, it was reported that Tarantino will direct a Star Trek film and lately the undenied rumors talk about another collaboration with actress Uma Thurman to make a Kill Bill sequel.
