We can assure you that thousands of women did not scream hysterically during Oprah Winfrey’s annual “Favorite Things” episodes because the Queen of Daytime was bad at giving gifts.
And just because the 64-year-old has given up her TV show, doesn’t mean that she’s given up her prowess in picking presents.
The Big-O proved she still has it by bestowing a fabulous gift on Wrinkle in Time co-star, Mindy Kaling’s newborn.
Mindy told USA Today that soon after her now 3-month-old daughter, Katherine, was born, she received a call from her assistant telling her that Oprah’s assistant would like to drop off a gift.
Assuming that a bouquet of flowers would be delivered, Mindy was utterly astounded and delighted when, she says, “They arrived with a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen, that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children’s literature.”
The books were reportedly each marked with the title, “Katherine’s Book Club”, prompting Mindy to hold up her little girl and say, “Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?”
Now that’s the kind of present we wouldn’t even mind jumping on a couch for!
